Guro Morphing

Guro Morphing

August 21, 2020

One night, on my night off, I was relaxing with some smoke and munchies in front of my tablet, faded and drawing, and I decided that I wanted to make an animation. Not to animate a character or anything, just that I wanted to work on a timeline. I wasn’t really in a position to think too much about technical work so I decided I’d go with a smooth, seamless looping project that would just morph from one random shape to another in a weird haze, and that would let me add anything or however much I wanted, and I could close the loop whenever I felt like it.
Pretty early in I realised I was starting to bring a bit of a guro theme into it, I’m not sure why it just kind of happened, but I thought I’d lean into it and make it the theme of the animation. I tried to create a good mixture of different body parts being introduced to saucy violence!

I spent some hours on this that night and got it done quicker than I expected, which I’m pretty happy with. I was considering adding colour or something, but felt that the time spent would shoot up hugely just by adding even one colour, and also the morphing effect becomes more diminished with extra details. The negative space and vague linework help the transitions feel more natural, so I’ve decided to just keep it as it is and leave it baked like a cake, the 420am animation that it is.

I hope you enjoy :)
